What is it all about?

My Organic Footprint
Advocacy website featuring informative content promoting all things organic including farming, gardening, lifestyle, products, restoration, trade and research. “Increasing My Organic Footprint” is the organic approach to “Reducing My Carbon Footprint”.  For example, trees are organic and absorb carbon.  Agriculture techniques used to organically maintain soil productivity and control pests are also part of a healthy ecology.

Organic Farming
Agriculture techniques such as crop rotation, green manure, compost and biological pest control to maintain soil productivity and control pests on a farm are the things one must consider in organic farming.  Farming is by far the number one source of food that feed the world.  Advancements in agriculture production has dramatically reduced the carbon footprint of farming.  One developing technology reported on NPR would allow ranchers to use their land to absorb carbon out of the air for a profit.  This is how increasing an organic footprint can reduce the carbon footprint.  When we consume organically produced farm products, we support the use of sustainable agricultural technologies that preserves and protects our ecology.  Visit here for more information on organic farming.

Organic Gardening
Growing fruits, vegetables, flowers, or ornamental plants using techniques of organic agriculture in soil building and conservation, pest management, and heirloom variety preservation are the things one must consider for organic gardening.  Whether for large scale commercial interests, a smaller countryside patch, or an urban backyard, gardening has widespread appeal and applications.  Agricultural technology has made organic approach a lot more feasible and the number one choice for a growing population of health and environmentally conscious people.  Raising a personal garden is also a way to save money while assuring the organic quality.  Just as in farming, the carbon footprint of gardening has decreased as we increase our organic footprint.  Visit here for more information on organic gardening.

Organic Lifestyle
A healthy, chemical-free way of life that helps conserve the Earth's resources by buying organically produced food, cleaning, personal, health, and etc. products, recycling and saving energy.  When we adopt the organic lifestyle, we are making a personal commitment to apply the organic approach whenever possible to the way we live and consume.  The more people commit to an organic lifestyle the more it increases our organic footprint.  Our carbon footprint becomes a lot smaller in the process.  Visit here for more information on organic lifestyle.

Organic Products
When we choose to purchase organically produced products, we are consciously or unconsciously taking part in a market niche that influences the use of organic technologies that support a more sustainable use of earth resources.  Increasing our organic footprint is a natural way of reducing our carbon footprint an important part of restoring and preserving the global ecology.  Organically produced products include foods, beverages, skin care, hair care and colourants, eczema and psoriasis products, deodorants, cleaning products, homeopathics, herbal and vitamin supplements, cosmetics, oral care, health care, wine, and etc.  Visit here for more information on organic products.

Organic Restoration
Restoration ecology is the scientific study and practice of renewing and restoring degraded, damaged, or destroyed ecosystems and habitats in the environment by active human intervention and action.  Critical damage to ecosystems and the environment require human intervention to restore them back to their natural state.  If we consider cancer something that must be removed or reversed for the survival of the human body, damage to the global ecology is of greater importance and must be treated with aggressiveness to restore the overall ability of our planet to support life in general.  Restoring ecosystems increases our organic footprint while decreasing the effects of our carbon footprint.  Visit here for more information on organic restoration.

Organic Trade
If organic products are considered dough, trade is the yeast of the organic market.  The interchange and export of organic products are the ingredients to a rising dough for baking economic bread that feed a growing niche market.  The more the demand, the more the trend will be for increasing the organic footprint and decreasing the carbon footprint.  This, along with other green activities, will help stabilize and restore our global ecology.  Associations were formed to promote ethical consumerism, promote and protect the growth of organic trade to benefit the environment, farmers, the public and the economy.  Visit here for more information on organic trade.

Organic Research
Organic farming research and development has the objective of improving the organic system. A research project should lead to optimised production consistent with organic standards.  Organic production has stronger growth potential because of agricultural research.  The multiplier effect of research tills and fertilizes the soil of technology influencing earth friendly agriculture; thereby, increasing our "Organic Footprint". This is one of many important activities that lead to a healthier global ecology.  Visit here for more information on organic research.
